Notably, the game underwent a name change shortly after its announcement. As shared on the developer Nightmare Forge Games’ Twitter/X account, the original title—Infestation 88—has been modified to Infestation: Origins. According to the developers, the “88” in the title reflects the game’s 1980s setting, with the year 1988 chosen for its symmetrical design in the game’s artwork and logo.
Alone in the Dark
As the inspiration behind renowned horror game series such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill, Alone in the Dark is a monumental pioneer in the survival and horror genres. Over 30 years since its initial release on the MS-DOS system, this legendary game has finally been revitalized by publisher THQ Nordic.
Originally launched in 1992 for MS-DOS, Alone in the Dark was subsequently ported to various platforms like 3DO, Mac OS, and PlayStation. In this game, players assume the roles of either Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, entering a mysterious mansion in 1920’s Louisiana.
