While Peter Parker is too famous for the role of Spider-Man in the series Marvel’s Spider-Man game, many people don’t know there is another Spider-Man who has his own story and powers. The next Spider-Man is Miles Morales, the main protagonist of the standalone expansion Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This game of Miles was released in 2020 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 following the success of the previous Marvel’s Spider-Man game. It is assessed to be a game worth playing like its predecessor.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set more than a year after the event of Marvel’s Spider-Man when Peter Parker decided to train Miles Morales to be the next Spider-Man. The game opens the scene in that Miles has fully integrated himself as an experienced Spider-Man and become Parker’s partner. Peter Parker has to leave New York City for a few weeks to support his girlfriend Mary Jane Waston to do her report and entrusts Miles to protect NYC in his absence. The new Spider-Man now has to defend both his new home in Harlem and the rest of New York City from a gang war between the energy corporation and a high-tech criminal army. The game’s story not also set up a new story for Miles but also continue several plot points for the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The gameplay of Miles Morales is also reminiscent of the 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man game but has some differences. Miles not only accesses the same skills as Peter but he also has many other abilities such as bio-electric shock or Venom Blast. New York City in this game still is an open world with a number of side missions. By doing side activities, players award special tokens to unlock and upgrade special gadgets and suits for Spider-Man like in the original game. However, the length of Spider-Man: Miles Morales is much shorter than the previous game. Players only need about 8 hours to complete the main storyline without doing side missions and 15 to 20 hours to complete both.
Regarding graphics, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales looks as great as the original game. In particular, the PS5 version of this game has improved visuals and offers three modes to play in including Performance, Fidelity, and Performance RT. Each mode has its own strongest but they all provide players with beautiful graphics and satisfying visual experiences. The characters of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales regardless main or supporting characters are beautifully developed.
When being released, many doubted the quality and the length of this game. However, with high-quality graphics, attractive storyline, beautiful design, and new gameplay, Marvel’s Spider-Man has made itself worth playing. The game can be a great addition to your Spider-Man universe games. If you are a fan of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales will surely satisfy you. In case you don’t have a PlayStation console, you can wait for a port of the game for PC which is scheduled to be released this November.
